Communication Development
Communication fascinates me, and so I am constantly experimenting with new and exciting modes of communication. In addition to coursework, I have pursued certification as a Distinguished Communicator across the Curriculum at LSU, which has challenged me to refine my written, spoken, visual, and technological communication. In fact, this website is a way for me to expand, develop, and practice all forms of my communication.
I work under Communication Across the Curriculum, CxC, in their Studio 151 Writing Center as a writing tutor. For three years, I have worked with students to collaborate, advise, and improve their written communication, and in doing so, I have become a more effective writer and teacher.
From Fall 2015- Spring 2016, I have been part of the TEDxLSU Creative Communications Team as the Writing Team Lead to help put together our TEDx event at LSU.
In this team, along with coordinating, advising, and collaborating with other writers. I produced writing projects for TEDx, such as composing interview features for 225 Magazine for speakers Gary King, Lt. General Honore, and Ginger Guttner. Near the time of the event, my writers and I were also responsible for some of the posts on our TEDxLSU blog. You can check out my pieces here and here.

In March 2016, the entire Creative Communications Team and my writing team put on TEDxLSU 2016! As part of this event, my writers and I took notes and wrote during the event.
My video team and I also put together the TEDxLSU 2016 Why? Introduction Video . For this two-month project, I played many different roles. My video team and I worked with the co-organizers to plan the video they wanted, interview the community members and TEDxLSU friends, and establish a video crew and film editor. I scheduled all of the interviews, conducted most of the interviews, and even filmed one interview! I made sure my team stayed on time and one track, and gave my editor suggestions for the structure of the final piece. This video was played during the live TEDxLSU 2016 event and you can see it here!
As part of TEDxLSU Creative Communications team, I became a better communicator and leader while putting together an amazing event that celebrates communication and new ideas to better society.
As part of my communication development, I also explored how writing can help others by interning at the LSU Museum of Art as a grant writer. Through this experience, I worked on more technical writing and learned hands-on how good communication can better the community. I researched and filled out grants including ExxonMobil, Kinder Morgan Foundation, and Albemarle Foundation to help fund the LSU Museum of Art's youth community programs, ArtWorks and Neighborhood Arts Project, programs that bring the arts to children in under resourced communities in Baton Rouge. I was honored to work on grants to support programs that promote learning in the community.
During the summer of 2016, I also interned with Reputation Capital Media Services in Baton Rouge. As part of this internship, I worked as a guest writer and ghost writer to create content for marketing for various companies and clients. For these pieces, I conducted interviews with experts in various fields, researched different topics, and wrote a variety of blog pieces for various clients including Monster and 225 magazine. Here are my blog pieces for Monster's blog: Love staying in hotels? These 10 jobs are for you and a blog piece on a live event for Reputation Capital Media's website.
