Heather Buzbee
I am a writer because I love how stories connect people to each other and the world. By writing, I create new stories, and by teaching others, I can analyze other stories' and foster these connections between people and the world. Through my pursuit of writing, I am able to travel, teach, and in doing so, continue to learn.
By travelling to new places, I challenge myself to explore new avenues of learning in different cultures. As a writer, I can teach and inspire fellow writers to communicate more effectively. And, through teaching others, I enhance my own skills as a writer and a communicator.
I discovered my fascination with how writing connects other people in rhetoric. To me, rhetoric underlies all forms of communication and is the thread that connects these stories and people across space and disciplines. With rhetoric, I can pursue my desire for writing as well as to merge my research interests in classical studies, cultural studies, and communication development with my experiences abroad. And, in my journey to achieve my PhD, through Rhetoric and Composition Studies, I want to continue to learn, travel, and grow as a scholar.
I have recently graduated from Louisiana State University with my bachelor of arts in English: Writing, Culture, and Rhetoric and minor in Classical Studies, and I'm very excited to now attend the University of South Carolina to pursue my PhD in Rhetoric and Composition.
This website demonstrates my works in rhetoric -- including my independent research and coursework in Rhetoric and Cultural Studies, communication development, and Classical Studies from Louisiana State University and my experience studying abroad in Ireland. To learn more about my experiences, you can also take a look at my resume, and if you want to connect, please contact me!
